A Feather Quest

Because of its location on the Laurel and Chestnut ridges and its vast expanses of in tact forest, Ohiopyle State Park is a birder’s paradise.  During this two-day ecotour, we’ll explore what the Laurel Highlands have to offer for birding enthusiasts

Meet Your Guides…

Chuck Tague - Birder extraordinaire, award winning naturalist, founder of Nature Observer News, President of Wissahicken nature club and former education curator at the Pittsburgh Aviary.  Chuck will share his wealth of knowledge with us in our two days.

Clyde “Fishy” Trout - Renowned naturalist, survival specialist, mammal expert, master hunter, weaver of tall tales and the king of bad pun.  Clyde is an expert interpreter and a laugh a minute.  His presence guarantees a good time.

Barbara Wallace - Former batwoman of Ohiopyle, now queen of the bird set, she’s always ready to take a challenge and turn it into a fun time.  The go-to person when stumped on a tree, wildflower or wild edible, and a friend to all.

Ohiopyle State Park

This fabulous Pennsylvania State Park encompasses over 19,000 acres of prime bird habitat.  Because of its location on the Laurel and Chestnut ridges, it is an important migratory flyway for hundreds of species of migrating birds.  Because of this, the whole park has been designated by the state as an important birding area.

The woods of Ohiopyle are filled with both beautiful song and vibrant colors as these neotropical migrants seek a resting spot and in many cases, a nesting spot for the year.

Expert birders and neophytes will all enjoy this fun-filled ecotour that will introduce you to this fabulous resource.

This program is presented and facilitated by the Environmental Education and Interpretative staff of Ohiopyle State Park.  For more information about this or the myriad of other programs offered at Ohiopyle State Park, contact us at:
