Located in the center of the borough of Ohiopyle, the current playground requires extensive work. The playground serves not only the local residents but also the users of the community center, day care, and visitors to Ohiopyle through the State Park. The renovation of the playground is in conjunction with a beautification initiative within the borough.
The project scope includes the replacement of the out-of-date and damaged structures. New drainage and base material would be brought in and the new equipment will include safe equipment to serve all age groups. Along with the traditional equipment, manufactured climbing rocks would be placed to give the youth of the community a chance to connect to the natural opportunities that exist in the surrounding park.
The Friends of Ohiopyle is working in conjunction with the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources and the borough of Ohiopyle to make this renovation a reality. Matching funds are available through DCNR’s Bureau of Recreation and conservation.
Estimated Cost of the project:
$70,000
